2009 Fourth of July SPANGE DANGLE Event
Saturday, July 4, 2009 - Blanco County Fairgrounds & Parade Route
Lavender Nights in Johnson City Texas

The Spange Dangle Grand Finale will be held at the Blanco County Fair Grounds on the outside pavilion. It will be preceded by a Grand Spange Dangle Parade at 7pm (click here for more Parade Info including a map of the Parade Route) starting on Pecan Ave in front of the Blanco County Courthouse and running down the spur to Old River Road onto the Fairgrounds. Spectators will be able to watch the parade from any place between the Blanco County Court House to the newly constructed City Park Pavilion, the City Ball Park or just any good ole spot on the spur. There will be Music at the fairgrounds at the outside pavilion from 3:00 pm to 9:15 pm. There will be washer pitching, kids games, fun activities, food vendors (hotdogs, hamburgers, shaved ice, beer, wine, sodas, water and other sorts of things) and various other vendors. So mark your calendars for a fun and exciting afternoon/evening at Spange Dangle - Johnson City Texas.

Spend a morning/early afternoon at the newly opened LCRA Park on the riverbanks of the Pedernales, shopping in downtown Johnson City, tour the LBJ National Historical Park, visit the various Art Galleries and Vineyards of Blanco County, the Exotic Zoo and taste the exquisite food of our Hill Country restaurants. Make the 4th of July in Johnson City a memorable event for you, your family and friends.

The 2009 Annual Spange Dangle Event is sponsored and coordinated by the Johnson City Chamber of Commerce and co-sponsored by Johnson City Bank, Cattleman's National Bank, National Parks Service, PEC, IESI, IFS, City of Johnson City, Johnson City Sign Shop, Johnson City Record Courier, Pecan Street Brewery, Best Western, Harvest House, Haynes Cedar Company, Heart of Texas Rentals, Kirchman Galleries, Mainstreet Boutique, The Pickett House B&B, Tony’s Garage and others to be announced. This event is also sponsored by donations from the people and businesses of Johnson City and the surrounding area. If you want to enter a float, a horse, a buggy, a bike, a car, a truck, a tractor or whatever you could possibly dream up in the 2009 Spange Dangle Parade give the Visitor Center a call or visit. You may also call Vicki Ralph 830-385-4334 or Lisa Lusk 830-385-4469 for more information and an application for entering the Parade. There will be prizes given of the best of various categories. Is washer pitching your game? If so, be on the Fairgrounds by 1:00pm on the 4th and take the challenge. 1st place prize (Set of 2009 Spange Dangle Washers) 1st four places into the money. Wow. . . Do you want to just hang out with the family under the trees and enjoy a relaxed day? Listen to the music played by various performers such as The Bobby Beal Band, Dean Strickland, Church of the Hills Praise Band and Little River Blue Grass. The kids can participate in various game activities at the fairgrounds. Most activities will start by 3pm to 9:15pm. There will be beer, wine, soda, water and shaved ice on the fairground premises during the activities. Get a bang out of the Fourth of July. There is no charge for the family event and you are encouraged to bring your lawn chairs and blankets! Vendors will be selling food, drinks and fun stuff throughout the day.
