Saturday, October 3: Volkssportverein Fredericksburg Walk Event: Participants are encouraged to "walk, jog or run at your own pace" in this noncompetitive walk. Register at the event, beginning at 8:00 am, for the 10km or 5km route. Walkers may begin from the Airplane Hanger on the LBJ Ranch anytime between 8:00 am and noon and must be finished by 3:00 pm. Routes are on paved roads and are acceptable for strollers or wheelchair. Children under age 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Dogs ok on leashes. This event normally will be held regardless of weather conditions. Johnson National Historical Park. Sponsored by the Friends of LBJ NHP, a Family Fun run is scheduled for Saturday, October 10, beginning at 9:00 a.m., and the popular Bike Tour of the LBJ Ranch, hosted by Luci Baines Johnson, President and Mrs. Johnson’s younger daughter, is set for Sunday, October 11, at 2:00 p.m. Registration for either event is available at www.friendsoflbjnationalpark.org under Activities. The registration fee for each event, which includes a souvenir T-shirt, is $20.00 for adults, $15.00 for children (ages 12 and under), and a "team" rate of $50.00 for a family of three or more. Johnson National Historical Park, and their educational (Johnson City Community Education Fund), preservation, and special events efforts.
