Second Act Troupe performing Three One-Act Comedies at the Methodist Church in Johnson City on Saturday October 3, 2009

Chamber member Second Act Troupe, a traveling Company of actors 55 years and over, returns for another performance in Johnson City. Their last performance here in June was almost sold out. It was a benefit for the Johnson City Food Pantry and it raised $502 for that organization.
They will again perform at the First United Methodist Church at 7.30 pm on Saturday October 3. Call (512) 618-3355 for reservations with assigned seating or buy general admission tickets at the door.
This new all comedy program features three one act plays.
In Ashes to Roses, a world premiere by former Wimberley resident Dorey Schmidt, Harold (Dan LaFleur) comes up with an ingenious plan to dispose of his father-in-law’s ashes that, to his annoyance, have long sat in an urn on his mantelpiece. His long suffering wife Mabel (Sandy Zellers) learns the truth and supported by her friends Betty (Maggie Goodman) and Angela (Diane Hruska) she develops an equally ingenious plan of revenge.
In Cruise Missile by Jean McConnell, Goldie (Peggy McConnell) plays a loud and overbearing cruiseship regular trying to involve her new acquaintance Janet (Ellen Massey) in every shipboard activity. Janet, who is new to cruising, just wants to curl up in a corner with a good book and tries desperately to escape from Goldie.
Charles Ellis, Allan Eastwood, Marvin Carson and Bruce Drobeck appear in The Still Alarm, a comic masterpiece by the celebrated American playwright George Kaufman.
Chamber members are encouraged to make early reservations to see some fine live theatre right here in Johnson City. |
